More Homes, More Saving Dogs’ Lives!
We have limited space in our shelter in Korea, which means the number of dogs that we can take care is very limited. Fostering can be another way to help us a room to save more dogs.
If you can share a space and your loving heart to our dogs, please consider fostering!
Foster Process
Fostering a dog requires flexibility.
Usually the fostering takes a week to 2-3 months.
Please submit the foster application. We will review and get back to you within 1-2 days
Confirming your ability and we will schedule a flight for a dog
-
Where are the dogs located? Most of our dogs are currently in South Korea and they will fly to Canada/US once they find a foster or forever home
-
How long does the adoption process take?Once we receive your adoption application, within 2-3 days we will send you the interview request. After the phone-interview, the decision will take about 3-4 days. In total, our adoption process takes about 1-2 weeks.
-
There are currently no dogs on your website and the dog that I'm interested in is currently in adoption pending. Do you have a waitlist option and if so how does it work?We don't have a waitlist options but once you submit the adoption application, we can keep your adoption application until you re-apply for other dogs. If the dog that you are interested in is in adoption pending, in this case we can recommend you the other dogs that are very similar to the dog that you are looking for. Do not feel hesitant to contact us!
-
Are all our dogs "Cat tested"?On the dog's profile, it will say “Not cat tested”. It means the dog hasn’t met a cat in foster care, so we have little to no knowledge on how the dog will do in the home with a cat. If the dog does not show signs of prey drive, we are open to a home with cats. However, there are things for cat owners to consider before submitting an application for a dog that isn’t cat tested. We do not offer dog/cat meet and greets before a dog is adopted. Therefore, you MUST do your research on proper dog/cat introductions in the home. Also, you must be willing to work with the dog if the dog does start to chase or show unwanted behaviours toward the cat. This may require the support of a professional trainer, so you also must be prepared for potential costs associated with this. Lastly, all adoptions have a trial period of at least one month, which will give a small indication on how manageable the relationship will be.
-
Is there any way I can meet a dog prior to applying? Most of our dogs are currently in South Korea which means it is not available for applicants to meet before they apply for our rescue dogs. Instead, our team can send you some videos to see the dog's personality and characters. But if the dog is currently staying in a foster home(Canada/US), if your application is processed and you've completed the interview, you may be approved for a meet and greet with the dog and its foster.
-
Will the dog I adopt come with the health document?Yes! All of our dogs will come with the health document which you will be able to see their microchip number and vaccination history.
-
What does "airport fee" and "porter fee" mean?Anyone who adopts a dog internationally should pay a "tax" to the government when adopters pick up the dog from the airport. "Tax" is an airport fee that you will be paying at the inspection office(customs office) The porter fee is a fee that you will be paying to the porter(airport staff) at the airport. Every city/country has different laws and different amounts.
-
Where are the Dogs? Most of our dogs are currently in South Korea, taken care of by our partner organization, Welcome Dog Korea. Once fostering is confirmed, we will send a dog to Canda/US.
-
How long do foster dogs to get adopted? It varies. But usually, it takes about 2 weeks to 2-3 months to get adopted. We will be collecting applications and doing interviews to find the best forever home for the dogs.
-
What kinds of experience do foster needed? We accept fosters at all experience levels. First-time dog owners are accepted and encouraged. But being open-minded to learn is key!
-
Do fosters need to have a car?We really love for our fosters to have access to a vehicle, but it’s not mandatory. Most of our foster dogs will arrive at the international airport and fosters need to pick up the dog. If you don’t have a car, it really helps us out if you reach out to your friends and family to help support with transporting your foster to and from the airport/vet appointment.
-
What supplies are provided? The dog will come with the martingale collar, leash and a crate. Once they get adopted, fosters need to give all those to adopters. Also, heartworm/flea+tick medication(2 months medication) will be provided as well. Fosters are more than welcome to spoil their fosters however they see fit, and can purchase additional toys, treats, dog beds, clothing items, etc. at their expense if they wish.
-
How does the meet-and-greet works? After a phone interview, an adoption coordinator will arrange a meeting between the foster parents, and the potential adopters. After a meet and greet with a potential adopter, please share your feedback with us — we will take your thoughts and insight into consideration in selecting the best home for your foster dog.
-
Is the Dog Microchipped?Yes, all of our rescue dogs are microchipped, spayed/neutered and vaccinated.
-
I fell in love with my foster dog, can I adopt?Yes, definitely! Whenever you feel he/she is THE ONE! Please contact us ASAP. We require all fosters to go through the full adoption process, which includes filling out an adoption application, a phone interview with an adoption counsellor and an adoption fee.
-
What kinds of costs are covered from the organization? We cover any vet bills. Since all of our dogs are vet-checked right before the flight, it's not necessary to visit a vet in Canada/US just for the general check-up. (general checkup is not covered). In emergency cases, if the dog is sick, of course, the foster needs to go to a vet for a check-up and it's covered by us! The dogs will come with the crate, collar, leash and a GPS tracker. We don't reimburse any supplies, foods and treats that the foster purchase.
-
What happens if the foster needs to travel and require a short-term foster or sitter during the fostering? If you have to go out of town for any reason (work/vacation/etc) please let us know as soon as possible. We ask for advance notice as finding a sitter can require some coordination. Sitters must be pre-approved by us, but that could still include your family, friends, and social circle after first connecting with us to discuss.

I still have few questions that hasn't been answered here. Who can I contact? Please reach out to chennyshappytails@gmail.com if you have more questions.
